Heffner Motors Limited
Year Founded: 1960
Number of Employees: 225
Industry Type: Retail Sales & Service
CFFB Member Since: 2017
Family Generation: 3rd
Our Story:
The Heffner automotive story began in 1960 when Mr. John Heffner Sr. opened shop on a small repair garage on Breithaupt Street in Kitchener. By 1962, the business moved to King Street East, across from RockwayGardens, where it was located for 25 years.
In 1987 John Heffner and his sons, Willy Heffner and John Heffner Jr., moved to their current, location. Heffner Toyota changed its name in 1990 to Heffner Lexus Toyota, welcoming the addition of Toyota’s new line of luxury automobiles, the Lexus.
The Heffners have taken steps to provide outstanding customer care, are committed to giving back to the community, and offer rewards and recognition to their employees that aren’t often seen in other dealerships.
Heffner Lexus/Heffner Toyota has grown substantially since 2004, in large part due to the needs of our immediate community – Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph – our guests and staff. In October 2004 we opened a 12,500 square foot used vehicle showroom, in September 2005 we moved into our 65,000 square foot Toyota dealership and in July of 2006 we moved the Lexus dealership to their 24,000 square foot building.
We have grown from 42,000 sq ft to approximately 132,000 sq ft. and are now working out of five different buildings spread over 16 acres of land. The new Collision Centre opened its doors on November 5, 2011 to serve your needs.

Henson Shaving

Our Story:
Henson has been making parts for large aerospace projects for 20 years. When you’re making parts that end up in space, you’re making them with longevity in mind. Henson has made critical components for the OneWeb constellation and parts for the Exo Mars rover. Needless to say those parts can’t come back to the shop for repairs, they have to work and they have to work for decades. Manufacturing parts designed to last a lifetime is part of their DNA.
Through a few happenstances, Henson turned their attention to razors. The end result is the AL13 razor. Made of Aluminum (which, yes, is the 13th element on the periodic table), Henson machined this razor to very tight tolerances in an effort to control both the blade extension and exposure. By minimizing these geometries, Henson believes the additional blade support greatly reduces flex and chatter and thereby irritation.
Henson Shaving aluminum razors are fully designed, manufactured, assembled and packaged in Canada and come with lifetime warranties.

Lewis Straus Construction Ltd.
Year Founded: 1985
Number of Employees: 25
Industry Type: Contracting
CFFB Member Since: 2009
Our Story:
Lewis Straus Construction Ltd. was established in 1985. We began in Kitchener, Ontario as an excavation contractor, specializing in swimming pool excavations, commercial excavating, and snow removal, and have expanded our services over the last 35 years into concrete forming and finishing, architectural walls, and more services to meet our customers’ needs.
As the region grew in population, space between new homes became tighter, and access to the back yards became more difficult. As an innovative company, we developed the use of conveyor technology to move the dirt from the pool excavation to the road. This idea evolved from the necessity of tight work areas, to a cleaner, safer way of moving large amounts of fill.
Our pool clientele and the homeowners started requesting the conveyors to minimize damage to their and neighbouring properties and allowed our business to expand across Ontario. Our concrete division has also grown from small commercial and residential projects in Waterloo Region to a variety of commercial civil projects, both small and large, across all of Ontario.

Our Story:
Melloul-Blamey Construction, one of the region’s largest and most diversified construction firms, has been in business for over 30 years. “Melloul-Blamey was founded on the principles of honesty, integrity, and pride of workmanship, and these principles form the cornerstone of every successful project we complete to this day,” says co-founder Bernie Melloul.
As a full service general contracting firm, Melloul-Blamey Construction strives to offer clients dependable, superior quality workmanship, on time and on budget. The company has become innovators in their field by building a skilled and dedicated staff, embracing technology, maintaining an impeccable safety record, concentrating on quality, and ensuring total client satisfaction.
The company now successfully completes annual construction volumes of over $200 million with a salaried staff approaching 200. Many of their projects have become trademarks of Waterloo Region, serving as warm beacons of welcome for visitors and residents alike, including the ATS Corporate Campus; numerous buildings at University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, and Conestoga College; and the Kidsability Centre for Child Development. Other featured area projects include the Home Hardware complex in St. Jacobs; Brick Brewing Company; Bingemans; Coldwell Banker Peter Benninger Realty; Huron Heights Secondary School; B-K Motors; and various Research in Motion facilities. The social services sector has also seen beautiful new facilities for Anslema House, Family and Children’s Services along with Langs Farm in Cambridge. This incredible success story first took root in 1982, when Bernie Melloul and David Blamey, classmates from Conestoga College, started living their dream with a humble office on Borden Avenue in Kitchener.
In the beginning, projects were primarily acquired through fixed price bidding of public and private work. Fast forward 29 years to the present, and Melloul-Blamey has expanded to construct over 500 institutional, recreational, commercial and industrial projects across the entire province, becoming a Billion Dollar Builder in completed projects. Diversification played an integral role in this success, with David Blamey and a team of Canadians setting up an American branch in Greenville, South Carolina in 2000.
As the company looks to the future, a succession plan has been implemented under the stewardship of Jeff Shantz, Vice President, Project Development; Joel Melloul, Vice-President, Estimating; Steve Hanley, Vice-President Construction Management; Jeff Heimpel, Vice-President, Business Development, thereby ensuring the future legacy of the company for another generation. Bernie Melloul has stated more than once “Our goals would never have been realized if it were not for the creative, innovative people in this company who dared to share the dream and channel a distinct vision along with us. Melloul-Blamey is very proud to be a conduit that strengthens the business and service sector of our community, and extremely grateful for the trust that has been placed in us.”

Our Story:
ODC Tooling & Molds (Ontario Die Company) was founded in Waterloo, Canada in 1923 by Sam Levene. The company was dedicated to the manufacture of the finest cutting dies available. During this formative period, the needs of the growing North American rubber, footwear and leather goods industries were ably met. The period of the 1950’s and 60’s saw the company continue to grow and firmly entrench values of superior quality and committed service that remain in place today. ODC distinguished itself as an industry leader adapting processes and materials that led the cutting die industry.
In the early 1970’s the companies interests expanded to include engineered forms of tooling including 3-dimensional automotive trim tools, dies and molds for the contact heat pressure formed packaging industry and matched metal trim tools. Martin Levene guided this phase of the companies evolution aided by a true industry visionary Bill Lessard.

Melloul-Blamey Construction Inc.
Year Founded: 1982
Number of Employees: 200
Industry Type: Contracting
CFFB Member Since: 2001
Family Generation: 2nd

Our Story:

Our Story:
Altruck International Truck Centres – it’s a family thing.
Altruck International Truck Centres was built on the idea that there had to be a better way to serve our customers. Jack Kirby dreamed of being a special service provider for his customers and assisting them, one customer at a time.
After working with International® Harvester for 21 years Jack purchased the dealership in Kitchener in 1977 and became part of the growing International® Dealer group. Since then, we have been trying to make the buying process as easy and simple as possible. Today, we are focused on serving you the same way – one business partner (customer) at a time.
Our business is built on a strong foundation: INTEGRITY.
Integrity in the way we treat you and each other. And integrity in the way we buy and sell trucks, parts and services.
Whether we are buying your equipment or selling one of our trucks, we do not pressure you.
You are more than a “customer” to us– You are a PARTNER and we are committed to your success! Why? Because we know that your success is what makes us successful.
We offer great products at reasonable prices. At Altruck International Truck Centres, we are always looking for new ways to help you improve your ROI and uptime and to enhance your competitive advantage.
